Man arrested for stealing bicycle

A person who reported their bicycle stolen Thursday morning had it returned two hours later.

A person at 7:28 a.m. at McDonald’s 16th Street in Orange called the police to report his bicycle was stolen. He had last seen it at 6 a.m. where he parked it at the restaurant. 

It is valued at $120.

While viewing the security video, the police saw a male get on the bicycle and ride it away. 

At 9:21 a.m. the same officer spotted a man wearing the same clothing and, on a bicycle, matching the description and pictures provided at the 1400 block of Burton Ave. 

The man was identified as Larry Nickerson, of Orange.

Nickerson was placed in the back of the patrol car while the officer waited for the person who reported the theft.

The man confirmed the bicycle was his and he did want to pursue charges.

Nickerson was arrested for theft of greater than $50 less than $500.

Nickerson did not give a statement according to the police report.
