LITTLE CYPRESS — There were plenty of campers having a blast at the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bear Basketball Camp at The Grove at LC-M High School this week.

Players learned a lot about the fundamentals of the game from Lady Bear coach Eddie Michalko and the assistant coaches as they look to contribute to the Lady Bear program in the future.

The LC-M Lady Bear Volleyball Camp will start up next week on Wednesday along with the Orangefield Volleyball Camp.

There are plenty of other camps across the area including the Bridge City Cardinal Cross Country Camp in early August.

Cardinal Cross Country Camp will be held Aug. 5-7 from 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

The site of the camp will be at Larry Ward Stadium (BCHS Track & Field facilities).

The cost is $50 for BCISD students and $75 for students outside of the district. The cost does include a camp T-shirt.

The camp’s goal is to instill in students a healthy and active lifestyle. There will be clinics held concerning stretching, proper running technique and proper nutrition.

Those participating in the camp will be able to compete at the Rick Miller Relays on Aug.24 at no extra cost.

The Rick Miller Relays will begin at 7:30 a.m. at Claiborne Park. Awards will be given to age groups. Fourth through sixth grade will run one mile and seventh through eighth grade will run two miles.

The Orangefield Bobcat Football Camp will be July 29-31 for incoming second through ninth graders from 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. The cost is $50. For questions, contact Melanne Scales at mscales@orangefieldisd.net.

The Bridge City Cardinal FSootball Camp is slated for July 30-Aug. 1 at Larry Ward Stadium from 9 a.m.-10 a.m. for Kindergarten through third grade.
