Man indicted for assault of public servant, more

Douglas O’Connor, of Orange, has been indicted by the Jefferson County Grand Jury for assaulting a public officer, a third-degree felony, two counts of harassment of a public servant, both third-degree felonies and assault of a security officer, also a third-degree felony for incidents which occurred on May 10, 2019.

Port Arthur police were responding to report of an assault at the 2500 block of Jimmy Johnson Blvd. in Port Arthur when they were informed OConnor assaulted a nurse and had escaped from the building.

He was located walking along the 8300 block of Memorial when he started running from the officers, according to an affidavit for arrest. Once apprehended, he spit on the officers.

Prior to leaving the hospital, O’Connor also punched a security guide in her face.

An indictment is not be considered as evidence of guilt and that all persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
