Man arrested in sexual assault, home invasion case

LAKE CHARLES — On April 25, 2019 Lake Charles Police were called to investigate an incident where the victim stated a subject, whom she did not know, forced his way into her home and sexually assaulted her.

The incident took place in the 3500 block of W. Roosevelt St. at approximately 8 a.m. The victim told officers that an unknown subject knocked on her door and asked if her husband was home because he needed some help fixing something.

The victim told the suspect her husband was not home.

The victim said the suspect then began to turn as if he was leaving  produced a weapon and forced his way into the home, demanded money, and then sexually assaulted her.

Investigation into the incident resulted in a warrant being issued for the suspect Dasmond Jamal Simmons, 29, for First Degree Rape and Home Invasion on June 21,2019.

Bond was set at $850,000.

Simmons was located in Lafayette, La. in jail on unrelated charges.

On Monday, July 1, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office picked up Simmons in Lafayette, brought him to Lake Charles, and he was booked on these charges.
