Port Arthur police officer arrested for suspected intoxicated driver

For the second time in a month, a Port Arthur police officer has been arrested for suspected intoxicated driver.

Clevon Buxton, 35, has been identified as the officer.

A Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Deputy arrested a suspected intoxicated driver after he was found asleep in a vehicle approximately 5 a.m. Saturday, June 29 on Old Sour Lake Road in Beaumont, as a result of Deputies response to a call of a vehicle stopped in the roadway.

The individual in control of the vehicle was arrested at the scene and transported to the Jefferson County Jail.

The individual has been identified as a Port Arthur Police Officer.

The Port Arthur Police Department has initiated an Internal Affairs investigation and will make a determination with regard to the disposition of any personnel matter at the appropriate time. This is standard procedure for personnel actions of this nature, according to a press release from Port Arthur Police Department.

On June 1, Joshua L. Abshier of the Port Arthur Police Department was arrested by Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) for suspected intoxicated driver in Orange County as the result of a routine traffic stop.
