Last week we spoke about the “end sign” of earthquakes that are covered in Matthew 24.

This week we will be talking about “that knowledge will increase”.

In Daniel 12:1-4 At that time Michael the great prince who stands watch over your people will rise up.  There will be a time of distress such as never has occurred, since nations came into being until that time.  But at that time all your people who are found written in the book will escape. Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to eternal life, and some to shame and eternal contempt.  Those who are wise will shine like the bright expanse of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.  “But you, Daniel, keep these words secret and seal the book until the time of the end. Many will roam about, and knowledge will increase.”

These verses are referring to what will happen at the end, but God tells Daniel to shut the words up and seal the book until the end of time, so we do not know everything that God has told Daniel.

We do know that many will be busy with daily activities, and knowledge will be increased.

According to Buckminster Fuller who created the “Knowledge Doubling Curve”; he noticed that until 1900 human knowledge doubled approximately every century.

By the end of World War II, knowledge was doubling every 25 years.

Today things are not as simple; as different types of knowledge have different rates of growth.  For example, nanotechnology knowledge is doubling every two years, and clinical knowledge every 18 months.  But on average, human knowledge is doubling every 13 months.

According to IBM, the build-out of the “internet of things” will lead to the doubling of knowledge every 12 hours.

That’s a massive increase of knowledge and gives us one more piece to the puzzle and one step closer to Jesus’s return.

In last week’s article, we said we cannot look at one singular scripture to determine if His return is close.  We must look at the collection to find where we are in God’s timeline.

The human brain has been found to hold several billion petabytes of data.  For those of you who are like me, I did not know a petabyte is much larger than a terabyte.  (I was obviously not doubling my knowledge.)

In a recent lecture at Harvard University neuroscientist Jeff Lichtman, who is attempting to map the human brain, has calculated that several billion petabytes of data storage would be needed to index the entire human brain.

The Internet is currently estimated to be 5 million terabytes (TB) of which Google has indexed roughly 200 TB or just .004% of its total size. The numbers involved are astounding especially when considering the size of the human brain and the number of neurons in it.

God has created our brain to hold more than the largest computer!  Now that is knowledge worth knowing.

Can you imagine being in heaven with the full capacity?  No wonder God can remember everything, and no telling what we will be able to do once we are in heaven!

Stay tuned for the number 8th sign on the list.  God bless! Can’t wait for His return.
