Woman seriously injured after being run over by own car

PRESS RELEASE —  Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to a crash at approximately 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, on State Hwy.  87 in Orange County.  The crash occurred in a convenience store parking lot.
Initial reports indicate that the driver of a Mercury passenger vehicle pulled into a convenience store parking lot onState Hwy. 87.  The driver got out of the vehicle without shifting the gear into the “park” position.  As the vehicle began to roll backwards, the driver attempted to get back into the vehicle but was run over by the car.  The car continued to roll until it struck a parked commercial motor vehicle.
The driver of the Mercury, 88-year-old Nora Yelberton of Orange, was transported by to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the commercial motor vehicle was not injured.
