Kayla Gallardo, who helped lead the Bridge City softball program to a superb record the past four seasons, including three district championships, is leaving to become an assistant coach at Port Neches-Groves High School.
Gallardo posted the following statement on her Facebook page Thursday:
This transition has been eye opening and stressful to say the least but I believe God has put me where I need to be. I am thankful for the 4 year opportunity BC gave me but it’s obviously time for me to move on in my career. I’m excited for all the new changes God is bringing to my life and my family! I’m also so beyond thankful for the overflowing support from family members, former coworkers, and friends during this change!
Gallardo notched an impressive 100-33-3 mark that included district titles. The Lady Cardinals were 29-4 in 2016, 29-7-1 in 2017, 27-9-1 in 2018 and 14-13-1 last season as Bridge City made the playoffs all four seasons.
Coach Gallardo and husband Luis Gallardo have a wonderful 2 ½-year old son Liem and the couple are expecting. Coach Gallardo is due July 27 with a girl they will name Kennedy.
