Single vehicle crash in OC leaves Vidor man dead

At approximately 4 a.m., Sunday, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to a single vehicle crash on Farm to Market Road 1135 in Orange County.

Initial reports indicate that a Chevrolet Camaro was traveling northbound onFarm to Market Road 1135.  The driver was traveling at a high rate of speed onFarm to Market Road 1135 and lost control.  The vehicle traveled off the roadway and hit a culvert.  After striking the culvert, the vehicle vaulted into the air and  flipped end-over-end onto the Interstate.  The vehicle flipped across all eastbound traffic lanes of Interstate 10 and came to rest on the center concrete barrier between the eastbound and westbound traffic lanes.

The passenger of the vehicle, a 23-year-old female from Vidor, was transported by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries.  At the time of the crash, she was wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 25-year-old male from Vidor, was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Hershel Stagner Jr. at the scene.  He was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from the vehicle.

The deceased victim’s name will not be released until next of kin has been notified.

All information is preliminary as Troopers work to determine the exact factors that contributed to this fatal crash.
