PRESS RELEASE — Hope everyone had a great week. Let’s see what’s been going on here in Newton County.
Received a call about someone finding a bag of drugs near FM 1416. Deputy Blueitt went and recovered them. By the way, anyone who lost their bag of drugs, give us a call. We need to talk.
We were called out for an attempted armed robbery at Sunset Grocery on Hwy 87 north of Deweyville. Subject was driving a red motorcycle and had dark clothing. If anyone recognizes the motorcycle (see our Newton County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page) please give us a call. He had what appeared to be a silver semi-auto pistol.
Received a 911 call where a man was requesting an ambulance. The man stated he had just smoked a joint and now he feels very sick. Acadian ambulance responded. Hope he learned a lesson.
We received a report where four tractors were broken into just off Baptist Encampment road. Batteries and fuel taken. Any information would be appreciated.
A lady called and wanted an officer to come make her husband let her in the house. Seems the husband locked her out.
Gotta go. Thought for the week: You can’t cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water. Ya’ll have a good week and if we can help, just holler. God Bless.
