From staff reports

City of Orange Convention and Visitors Bureau will be hosting the 6th Annual “Shootout on the Sabine” DSRA Drag Boat Races from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 18 and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 19 at the City of Orange Boat Ramp, located at 1000 Simmons Drive.

There will be no charge to attend this family-friendly event.

In an effort to promote tourism, this event will include 50 to 60 racers from Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.  Depending on the classification, speeds of more than 100 mph are possible and are sure to entertain those of all ages.  DSRA races outboard powered boats only.

The drag race course will be 800 feet unless race site does not logistically support 800 race course, then the course will run 660 feet.

The “Shootout on the Sabine” boat races differ from the yearly event in September as this is a drag boat racing event where two boats race side-by-side on a straight course instead of a circular course like the races in September.

Concessions and children’s activities will be on site for all to enjoy.

No pets will be allowed at the City of Orange Boat Ramp. Coolers are welcome.
