FINAL UPDATE: Wreck closes Interstate 10 eastbound by FM 1442

PRESS RELEASE— The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) can confirm that the driver of the Chevrolet Camaro was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Rodney Price at the scene.

The driver, Eduardo Cardozo, 22, of Orange, but was born in El Salvador.

Cardozo was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Rodney Price following a crash on Interstate 10.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured in the crash.

Press Release — At approximately 3:30 p.m.,the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a major crash on Interstate 10, near FM 1442, in Orange County.

Preliminary reports indicate that a commercial motor vehicle was traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 when it was rear-ended by a Chevrolet Camaro.  It appears that the Chevrolet hydroplaned before striking the 18-wheeler.

Motorists are urged to use caution while driving in the area of the crash scene.

Traffic is being diverted to Farm to Market Road 1442.
