Frederick nets All-SLC Softball honors for 3rd straight year

BRIDGE CITY — Former Bridge City Lady Cardinal softball standout Kasey Frederick landed on the All-Southland Conference Team for Nicholls State for the third consecutive season as an outfielder.
Frederick made the Second Team and it was her third straight season to make the All-Conference Team.
After claiming 21 wins in league play for the third time in the last four years, the Nicholls State University softball team received a league-high six honorees on the 2019 All-Southland Team, as the Southland Conference announced Tuesday morning its postseason awards.
Seniors headlined the selections for the Red and Gray, with pitcher Megan Landry and catcher Kali Clement landing on first team, while shortstop Amanda Gianelloni and center fielder Frederick were named second team. Junior Samantha Dares was honored with third-team recognition at first base and was joined by sophomore third baseman Caitlin Garcia.
A two-time first-team selection, Frederick posted another outstanding season at the plate in conference with a .313 batting average and tied for fifth with 21 RBIs, earning second-team honors. Nine of her hits went for extra bases as she totaled four doubles, three homers, and tied for third with two triples. The Bridge City, Texas native also tied for second in sacrifice flies and was fifth in sacrifices. For the year, Frederick had a team-high 10 multi-RBI games and totaled 33 RBIs with five homers. In the outfield, she made several highlight plays and finished with only one error.
