Newton County Sheriff’s Report 5.6.19

PRESS RELEASE — Hope everyone had a good week.  Wasn’t too bad around here.  Let’s see what’s been going on.

The State Jail Commission was in last week for a surprise inspection.  We passed with flying colors.  Good job goes out to Captain Morrow and her staff.  They take care of business.

We are getting more complaints about scams.  Latest one is for you to send money because you won money.  Please remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it is.

Storm came through Friday night.  We received calls from all over the county about trees down over roads and driveways.  Thanks to all who helped clear the road’s up.

Several calls about horses, donkeys, and cows out on the roads.  Critters will be critters but we need to work on our fences.  We spend a lot of time on these calls.  Help us please.

We received a call about a pickup behind a business in the Deweyville area.  All the a/c’s from the business were in the back of the pickup.  Three subjects located and charges pending.

Gotta Go.  Criminal trial starting this morning.  Duty calls.  Thought for the week: if you use the church’s Wi-Fi, are you receiving God’s signal.  Ya’ll have a great week and if we can help, just holler.  God Bless.
