Lady Bobcats to face New Waverly in area round Thursday in Jasper

- Van Wade/Orange Leader Orangefield’s Ryden Stanfield and her Lady Bobcat teammates will face New Waverly in the area round of the playoffs Thursday in Jasper.
ORANGEFIELD — The Orangefield Lady Bobcats will take on the New Waverly Lady Bulldogs in the Class 3A Region III softball playoffs in a one-game Thursday at 7 p.m. at Jasper High School.
The Lady Bobcats (22-8), 22-3A runnerups, defeated Corrigan-Camden 6-3 in the bidistrict round last week while New Waverly (19-8), District 23-3A champions, downed Van Vleck 11-1.
Ticket prices will be $6 for adults and $4 for students.
Against Corrigan-Camden Codie Sorge got the win on the mound for the Lady Bobcats as she allow two earned runs to Corrigan-Camden (16-12) on eight hits and she finished with nine strikeouts.
Every Lady Bobcat reached safely against Corrigan-Camden pitching. Codie Sorge did it at the plate as well, coming up with two runs batted in. Alyssa Dodd was hot with three RBI and Olivia Grant had an RBI.
