Lady Falcons down Lady Cardinals to take bidistrict series

HUFFMAN — The Bridge City Lady Cardinals started out with a two-run lead in Game Two of their best-of-three Class 4A Region III bidistrict series against Huffman but could not withstand the hitting prowess of the Lady Falcons as Huffman wrapped up the series with a 9-2 win at Huffman High School Saturday.

The Lady Cardinals (15-13) struck for a pair of runs in the top of the first inning as Natilee Reed and Aleah McClanahan each picked up hits and both drove in a run apiece.

Katy Janes pulled the Lady Falcons (28-6-1) to within 2-1 in the bottom of the first after driving in a run.

The Lady Falcons tallied a pair of runs in the bottom of the second with a pair of hits that belonged to Kenzie Gates and Andrea Hortch.

Huffman grabbed a couple more big hits in the bottom of the fourth including a RBI from standout leadoff hitter Dez Cardenas.

The Lady Falcons collected another run in the fifth frame and capped it with three more runs in the sixth.

The Lady Falcons finished with 12 hits while the Lady Cardinals had four.

Huffman took Game One at Bridge City 8-0 on Thursday.
