Bobcats shred Anahuac, await playoffs

ORANGEFIELD — The Orangefield Bobcats wrapped up a solid District 22-3A campaign by downing the Anahuac Panthers 10-1 at home Friday night.

The Bobcats (16-9, 12-2) will head to the playoffs next week as the second-place seed out of 22-3A.

Orangefield jumped out early on the Panthers (14-11, 5-7) Friday.

The Bobcats scored on a single by Kent Michael and a double by Mason Gonzales in the second inning.

The Bobcats pulled away for good with four runs in the second inning. In the second Michael singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run and Gonzales  doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.

Blake Bradley  was credited with the victory for the Bobcats. He lasted four innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out three and walking one. Gunner Jones and Gonzales entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Adam Galeas was on the pitcher’s mound for Anahuac. He allowed six hits and seven runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out three. Sam Chavez  threw three and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

The Bobcats collected ten hits. Michael and Kadeon Evans each collected multiple hits for the Bobcats.  Michael went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Bobcats in hits.  Evans led Orangefield with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with five stolen bases.

Anahuac tallied six hits in the game.
