Lady Bear Dileo qualifies for 4A State Golf Tournament

HUNTSVILLE — Little Cypress-Mauriceville freshman Montana Dileo qualified for the Class 4A State Golf Championships by placing fourth at the 4A Region III Championships in Huntsville Tuesday at Ravens Nest Golf Course.

Dileo fired a two-round score of 170 (89-81), including a superb 81 on Tuesday to punch in her state ticket.

The Lady Bears finished in sixth overall as a team among a field of 13 teams.

The Lady Bears fired a two-round score of 871 (443-428), improving 15 strokes on the second day.

Neely Wozniak had a score of 210 (100-110) for the Lady Bears while Bethany Martinez (119-115) had a 234 and Jaycie Benton had a 257 (135-122).

Lorena’s Jordyn Linnstaeder won the tournament with a 162 (82-80) while Midlothian Heritage’s Kate Adelmann was second with a 165 (82-83).

Midlothian Heritage won the team crown with a 703 (350-353) and the Hardin-Jefferson Lady Hawks will go to State as a team after finishing second with a 743 (377-366).

Lady Hawk Elizabeth Townsend finished third individually with a 168 (84-84).

The Girls Class 4A State Golf Tournament will be held May 13-14 at Plum Creek Golf Club in Kyle.
