Student Health Advisory Committee hosts Family Health and Wellness Night

The Vidor ISD SHAC (Student Health Advisory Committee) will host a Family Health and Wellness Night next Thursday, April 25 in Pirate stadium from 5-7 p.m.  Students and family alike are invited to come out, walk a healthy lap around the track, and visit vendors who will offer freebies and good tips on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. 

Vidor High School Interact will be on hand giving out fruit and playing games with hula hoops.  The VJHS National Junior Honor Society will host Bubble Mania, and VHS Building Trades will be lining up folks for a Ninja Warrior Obstacle Course.  Vidor Elementary’s Pirate Council will provide a push-up challenge, and the VHS Pharmacy Tech students will advise visitors on the proper disposal of medication.  Orange County Environmental Health will be on hand to talk about Food Safety Practice, and VISD Child Nutrition will host Drink Path.   Also on hand will be Heart of Texas Family Medicine, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, VHS Criminal Justice Club and Texas Children’s Project Gold, which will tell patrons how they can receiving psychiatric visits by a computer in the privacy of their home for their children. 

Also joining in the fun will be Vidor FFA with Where Your Food Comes From, Ronnie Bryant from 2020 Census to help us all stand up and be counted, VHS HOSA (Health Occupational Student Association)  with tips on heart health, and Healthy Habits from AP Health Coaching.  Vidor Rotary Club’s green bus will be there handing out free books to all the kids from birth to age eighteen, and the Vidor Police Department will bring emergency vehicles.  Orange County Emergency Services District #1 Fire Chief Robert Smith and his firefighters will show up with a truck, and other local emergency vehicles may just show up as well!  You don’t want to miss this fun evening of games and information.
