PRESS RELEASE — At approximately 11:45 a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a motor vehicle crash on SH 87 in Newton County.  The crash occurred approximately three miles South of RR 255 and involved a motorcycle.
Initial reports indicate that the motorcycle was traveling southbound on SH 87.  The driver entered a curve, at an unsafe speed, and lost control of the motorcycle.  The driver fell off the motorcycle and struck a roadway sign.
The operator of the motorcycle, 24-year-old Stephen Miller of Vidor, was transported by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries.  Miller was wearing a helmet.
