Melton, Lady Cardinals shut down Lady Raiders

BRIDGE CITY — The Bridge City Lady Cardinals clinched a playoff berth Thursday night by notching a 2-0 victory over the Lumberton Lady Raiders in District 22-4A action at Lady Cardinal Field.

The win secures a postseason berth again for the Lady Cardinals (15-12, 6-6) and they will await their seed on whether they finish third in the standings are have to have a seeding game for third and fourth.

Madyson Melton tossed a complete game shutout for Bridge City as she allowed just two hits while striking out four.

Natliee Reed was 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored. Aleah McClanahan was 2-for-3 and drove in a run. Leah Jeffrey also went 2-for-3.

Ashley Gerrald and Aspen Daniels each had hits while Abby Anderson scored a run.
