Cardinals rumble past Raiders in 5

BRIDGE CITY — The first-place Bridge City Cardinals pounded the Lumberton Raiders 12-1 in five innings in District 22-4A action at Young Field Thursday night.

The Cardinals (19-6-2, 10-1) struck for eight runs in the first inning and never looked back against the Raiders (2-16, 1-9).

The Cardinals finished with seven hits while the Raiders were limited two three by Cardinal pitchers Sam Carpenter and Ryan Ellis.

Carpenter worked three innings, striking out four while Ellis tossed two innings and had one strikeout.

Logan Hamm had two hits for the Cardinal offense while Peyton Havard and Trevor Kimball had big hits.

Havard drove in a pair of the Cardinal runs while both Kimbell and Tanner Wilson also had two runs batted in apiece.

The Cardinals will close out their 22-4A schedule at home Apr. 26 at home against West Orange-Stark.
