HUFFMAN – Several Orange County tracksters found some gold and others punched their tickets to the Class 4A Region III Track & Field Championships next week after placing in the top four at the Area Meet held at Huffman High School Wednesday.

Little Cypress-Mauriceville senior distance standout Eli Peveto was the only Orange County double winner as he claimed both the 3.200 meters (10:33.670 and the 1,600 meters (4:32.26).

Bridge City’s George Fleming flew in the 100 meters, winning with a time of 10.78 seconds. LC-M’s Kollyn Brown won the shot put (46-8 ¼).

On the girls’ side of the ledger, West Orange-Stark’s Diamond Judge dashed to the 100-meter gold, winning in a blazing 12.27 while the Lady Mustang 800 relay team won in 1:47.25.

Bridge City took a pair of first-place finishes with Caryss Carpenter winning the high jump (5-0) and Kaylen Smith taking the 800 meters (2:31.14.)

The Huffman girls won the team title with a whopping 186 points while Bridge City was second with 126.

Huffman also took the boys crown with 98 points while Livingston was second with 95.
