PRESS RELEASE — The Storm Prediction Center updated the risk for strong to severe storms on Thursday. For parts of southwest, central and all of south central Louisiana, there is now an enhanced (30%) chance for damaging winds, large hail, and even a tornado. The timing for this region would be Thursday afternoon.
There is still a marginal (5%) or slight (15%) risk for strong to severe storms for southeast Texas and the remainder of western Louisiana. The timing for this region would be early Thursday morning through midday Thursday.
In addition, due to the strong southerly winds, there could be minor coastal flooding Wednesday and Thursday, especially during high tide.
