Bobcats make quick work of Kountze

ORANGEFIELD – In a superb offensive performance, the Orangefield Bobcats exploded past the Kountze Lions 11-1 in District 22-3A action at Cormier Field Tuesday night to keep pace with Kirbyville as both teams remained tied for first-place.
The Bobcats fired up the offense in the first inning, when an error scored one run for Bobcats.
Orangefield claimed five runs in the third inning. The Bobcat offense in the inning was led by Tyler Washington, Landen Tomlinson, Kent Michael, and Mason Gonzales, all driving in runs in the frame.
Tomlinson earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Bobcats. He went four and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out five. Logan Gipson threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Perkins toed the rubber for Kountze. He allowed five hits and six runs over one and two-thirds innings, walking one. Smith and J Martinka entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two innings and one-third of an inning respectively.
The Bobcats smacked one home run on the day. Gonzales had a four bagger in the second inning for a grand slam.
Orangefield tallied eight hits on the day. Johnny Armstrong and Michael each managed multiple hits for Bobcats. Armstrong led Bobcats with three hits in three at bats. The Bobcats didn’t commit a single error in the field. Ryan Trahan had the most chances in the field with three.
Orangefield is now 14-8 (10-1) and will travel to Hardin on Thursday.
