Bobcats edge by Warren

WARREN — The Orangefield Bobcats got out to a four-run lead in the first inning and held on for a 5-4 District 22-4A victory over Warren on Friday.

Warren scored three runs in the failed comeback on a in the third, a triple by Austin Scherry in the sixth, and a single by Luke Whiseant  in the sixth.

The  Bobcats got things started in the first inning when Mason Gonzales doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.

Blake Bradley led the Bobcats to victory on the hill. He surrendered two runs on three hits over three innings, striking out five.  Kadeon Evans and Johnny Armstrong  entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.  Armstrong recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Bobcats.

Trace Daigle started the game for Warren. He lasted six innings, allowing seven hits and five runs while walking zero.

Gonzales led the Bobcats with three hits in three at-bats.

Chase Sims went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Warren in hits.

The Bobcats are now 13-8 (9-1) and will host the Kountze Lions at Paul Cormier Field on Tuesday.
