LITTLE CYPRESS — After getting 11 days off since their last game, the No. 1-ranked Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears showed no rust against the Lumberton Lady Raiders Friday evening, especially the bat of senior shortstop Renna Toomey and the arm of senior ace Brianna Frenzel.

Toomey drove in five runs, hitting two home run bombs, including a grand slam and all Frenzel accomplished was pitching a “perfect” game as the Lady Bears tripped up the Lady Raiders 6-0 at Lady Bear Field.

Frenzel went the distance on the hill for the Lady Bears (25-2, 10-0) and the Lady Raiders (10-11, 4-7) never had a baserunner all game long. Frenzel struck out 13 Lady Raiders with no walks as she had tremendous command throughout the game and was simply throwing heat.

Lady Raider pitcher Sydnie Cline worked six innings, scattering seven hits while striking out two and walking eight.

The Lady Bears tallied a run in the bottom of the first inning.

JoAnna Henry drew a leadoff walked and zipped to second on a nice Ally White sacrifice bunt and Brianna Frenzel followed with a RBI double to right centerfield.

Behind’s Toomey’s swift bat, the Lady Bears scored four runs in the bottom of the third.

White got it going with a single to left and Brianna Frenzel reached on an infield single. Bailey Frenzel drew a walk to load the bases and Toomey made Cline and the Lady Raiders pay as she took and offering and buried it over the centerfield fence for the grand slam.

It was Toomey again in the bottom of the fourth when she sent a Cline pitch and planted it over the left centerfield wall to push the lead to 6-0.

Toomey and Frenzel had two hits apiece. White had a single along with Megan Peveto and Madeline Stevenson.

The Lady Bears will look to continue their winning ways Monday night when they visit Orange County rival Bridge City at Lady Cardinal Field.
