West Orange-Cove Consolidated ISD Board of Trustee candidates will be at the pavilion next to the West Orange Community Center from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday, April 12.

Voters will have an opportunity to participate with a Meet and Greet with the five candidates before the forum. Each candidate will have an opportunity to speak to the audience while introducing themselves.

“I wanted to give them a voice,” organizer Mary Ekene said. “This is an opportunity for the people to meet them and find out why they are running.”

Ekene added that too often those running for school board are often forgotten during the election.

“I decided I was not waiting for someone else to do something,” Ekene said. “I decided to just do it. Voters need to know who they are voting for.”

Candidates for WOCCISD School Board of Trustees are:

• Demetrius Hunter*
• Gina Simar
• Kianna Edwards-Brooks
• Russell Holt

A Trustee is not compensated monetarily for his service.

Election Day is May 4, 2019.
