PINEHURST — Beautiful downtown Pinehurst is giving citizens an opportunity to make the spouse happy while help beautifying the city. The annual Spring Clean-up for the city of Pinehurst is scheduled for 8 a.m. – 12 Noon on Saturday, April 6 at the MacArthur Shopping Center located at 2600 MacArthur Drive in Pinehurst.

The fine for littering can range from $500 to $100,000 with the higher fees reflecting a waterway area.

“Last year we collected just over 50 yards,” Pinehurst Public Works Director Jeff Toney said. “We will also have the grapple truck to help unload trailers if needed.”

The city has offered this service for over 20 years to its residents.

During the cleanup, city employees, council members, and administrative staff will be on hand to unload vehicles.

During the cleanup, the city will accept brush, furniture items, white goods (without Freon), metal, lumber, and trash.

The city will not be able to accept hazardous waste, oil, liquid paint, appliances containing Freon, batteries or tires.

In addition to the citywide cleanup, residents also have the option of twice monthly bulk trash collection.

“I believe it helps offset debris and adds to the cleanliness of the city,” City Administrator Robbie Hood said.”
