Bobcats blank Panthers to stay perfect in 22-3A

ANAHUAC — The Bobcats defeated Anahuac 7-0 on Tuesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout as Orangefield stayed perfect in District 22-3A action.

The Bobcats fired up the offense in the first inning, when Kadeon Evans homered on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

Orangefield notched three runs in the fifth inning.  The offensive onslaught was led by Logan Gipson and Tyler Washington, all driving in runs in the frame.

One bright spot for Anahuac was a single by Eddie Muniz in the second inning.

Landen Tomlinson was the winning pitcher for Bobcats. He lasted five innings, allowing three hits and zero runs while striking out six.  Evans threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Sean Chavez led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Anahuac. He allowed six hits and six runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four.  Adam Galeas threw two and a third innings out of the bullpen.

The Bobcats hit one home run on the day. Evans went for the long ball in the first inning.

The Bobcats tallied eight hits on the day.  Gunner Jones and Evans all managed multiple hits for Bobcats.  Evans and Jones each collected two hits to lead Bobcats.  The Bobcats didn’t commit a single error in the field. Kent Michael had  eight chances in the field, the most on the team.

The Bobcats move to 11-7 (7-0) and will travel to Kirbyville Friday to start the second round of district.
