Lions’ Menard, Patel win regional doubles; Sylestine, Carter advance

Community Christian’s Tennis team came up with some great wins Friday in Houston at the Lee LeClear Tennis center for TAPPS Regional championships.
James Menard and Rahul Patel won first place for the second year in a row. They played Kingwood Covenant Prep in the first round and won 8-0. In the semifinal round playing Fredericksburg’s #3 seeded team scoring 6-0, 6-0 and in the finals playing Fredericksburg Heritage’s #2 seed in an impressive 6-1, 6-0 win. This is the second year for this duo to win Regionals.
Julianna Sylestine played in the girls singles and moved through Fredericksburg Heritage, Belleville Christian, and Fredericksburg to take the fourth place medal.
Jacob Carter( not pictured) won 8-1 in the first round, 5-8 in the second and winning an impressive comeback in his final match against Kingwood’s Tein Le, from a 1-6 to finishing 8-6, winning seven straight games to take home sixth place in boys singles.
All four players move on to play State in Waco, Apr. 10-11.
