Dr. Jay Killgo, Vidor Independent School District Superintendent of Schools, was recently honored by Lamar University with a Crystal Star Award.
The College of Education was formed 60 years ago at the university and has since 2007 become the largest provider of online educational programs in Texas with more than 12,000 alumni.
Each department selected a Crystal Star Alumni based on outstanding achievements in their discipline since graduation.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Sam Houston State University in 1995, majoring in history with an English minor. His master’s degree in Educational Administration was earned at Lamar University in 2003, and his doctorate in Education Administration in 2010.
