Battlin’ Bears Relays set for Thursday; area track leaders

- Van Wade/Orange Leader Orangefield’s Katelynn Helm leads the SE Texas area with the best time in the 800 meters.
Track teams are looking to get it in high gear as the regular season winds down with district meets looming in the near future.
Little Cypress-Mauriceville will be hosting the Battlin’ Bear Relays Thursday.
The field events will begin at 3:30 p.m. with the running finals starting around 6 p.m.
Teams that will participate in the field include the host Bears, Bridge City, WO-S, Orangefield, Silsbee, West Brook, Newton, Hamshire-Fannett and Hardin-Jefferson.
The District 22-4A Track & Field Championships will be next week at Lumberton High School with the field events and running prelims starting Tuesday, Apr. 2 and the running finals Thursday, Apr. 4.
The District 22-3A Track & Field Championships will be held Apr. 8 and Apr. 11 at Anahuac High School.
