The Bridge City Boys Powerlifting Team went to State this past weekend.  Spencer Beck, Jake Potter and Jack Fontenot put up a great fight at the meet which was held in Abilene this past Saturday.  The results are as follows:

Sophomore Spencer Beck made his first state appearance.  He finished 13th in the State.  Spencer squatted 250 pounds, benched 135 pounds and deadlifted 260 pounds.  This gave him a new personal record of 645 pounds!

This was also Junior Jake Potter’s first appearance at the state meet.  Jake ended up snagging a seventh place finish by squatting 380 pounds, benching 200 pounds and deadlifting 390 pounds.  This also gave Jake a new personal record of 970 pounds!

This was Senior, Jack Fontenot’s second appearance at the state meet.  It came down to the very last lift for Jack to see if he was going to be able to be a state champion.  Unfortunately this did not happen.  He ended up tied for first place, but since he weighed more, Jack brought home second.  Jack finished the year strong though.  He squatted a new personal record of 750 pounds, benched a new personal record of 415 pounds and deadlifted 535 pounds.  This brought Jack’s total up to 1,700 pounds, which was also a new personal record for Jack.  Three hundred pounds shy of a ton.
