LITTLE CYPRESS – Riding the arm of senior ace Brianna Frenzel, the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears exorcized some demons Tuesday night by downing the Bridge City Lady Cardinals 8-0 in District 22-4A action at Lady Bear Field.
It had been over three years since the Lady Bears defeated the Lady Cardinals in district play after former Bridge City standout Kassidy Wilbur dominated on the hill.
Now, she is doing a masterful job at the NCAA Division I level at Stephen F. Austin.
Frenzel put in a masterful performance at the mound and at the plate to help improve the Lady Bears, who are ranked No. 1 in the state in the latest Class 4A poll, to 21-2 overall and 5-0 in 22-4A play.
Frenzel tossed a complete-game one-hitter, striking out a whopping 14 Lady Cardinals (10-8, 2-3). She walked two.

Madeline Stephenson brought in the second run when she slapped a RBI single to center that scored courtesy runner Marlasia Roberts.
LC-M tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the third.
Baliey Frenzel drew a leadoff walk and big sister Brianna planted a Daniels offering deep over the centerfield fence for a two-run homer..
The Lady Bears then loaded the bases after Toomey and Weaver drew walks and Leavings was hit by a pitch. Megan Peveto, drove in Toomey with a bases-loaded walk.
The Lady Bears upped it to 6-0 in the bottom of the fifth. Payton Smith had a leadoff single to center and Shelby Smith reached on an error. JoAnna Henry, who was 2-for-3, scored Payton Smith with a RBI single between short and third.
Toomey put the finishing touches on the game when Brianna Frenzel had a leadoff single and Toomey hit a deep home run over the leftfield wall to make it 8-0.
