Wilbur, SFA slow down McNeese bats

LAKE CHARLES — Former Bridge City Lady Cardinal standout Kassidy Wilbur snagged a pair of big wins on the mound in Southland Conference play for Stephen F. Austin on the road at McNeese State over the weekend.
Wilbur, a true freshman, certainly held the Lady Cowgirls in check.
In her first win, she helped the Lady Jacks post a shutout as SFA won 7-0.
Wilbur went the distance, throwing a complete-game one-hitter while striking out nine and walking three.
Wilbur also started Game Three of the series in which the Lady Jacks captured a 4-2 victory.
She allowed seven hits with two earned runs. She struck out eight and walked two.
Wilbur now stands 9-8 n the season and the Lady Jacks improved to 15-12 on the years and 3-3 in SLC action.
Wilbur currently leads all SLC pitchers with 122 strikeouts.
The Lady Jacks visit Texas A&M in non-conference action Wednesday before returning home to host Houston Baptist in a three-game set starting Friday and lasting through Sunday.
Wilbur was the Orange Leader Female Athlete of the Year in both 2017 and 2018.
