Cardinals belt Silsbee in big 22-4A road win

SILSBEE — The Bridge City Cardinals exploded past the Silsbee Tigers 12-2 in District 22-4A action at Tiger Field Tuesday night.
The Cardinals broke away from a 2-2 tie in the top of the fifth inning thanks to a three-run home run blast by Sam Carpenter and scored six more runs in the top of the sixth to pull away even more.
Carpenter had a pair of hits and four runs batted in.
Logan Hamm contributed three hits and brought in three runs while Havard had a hit and two RBI.
Peyton Havard had another solid outing on the mound for the Cardinals (10-4-2, 2-0), striking out eight Tigers (5-5, 0-1) in five innings of work.
The Cardinals finished with eight hits while the Tigers had three.
The Cardinals will host Hardin-Jefferson Friday.
