PRESS RELEASE — Busy around here last week. Let’s see what was going on.
Started the week off with a missing lady from Old Salem. Then going with Jasper County deputies to Kevin Byerly’s residence. Turned out Jasper County deputies have filed murder charges on Byerly for the murder of Candi McKee of Old Salem. Great job goes out to Sheriff Newman and his officers! Please remember the McKee family in your prayers.
How many times have I asked people to put up game cameras around their property? Four people broke into the old prison and took all kinds of our property, tires and other items. No cameras. Shame on me. Some good police work by Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office and us has got warrants on four thugs. Two are already in jail. We recovered some of our stuff.
Received 911 call about a horse wearing a green coat in the road way. We contacted the owner who said she would go get the horse. Before she got there the horse was ran over and killed. Very sad.
Received a call where a 32-year-old man had a flat and does not know how to change a tire. His sister wants us to go change this tire. Our north end deputy was on call so we called them a wrecker. If you are a man and don’t know how to change a tire!!! Shut up Billy.
Big thanks go out to several people for all their help redoing our gun range. Commissioners Fomby, Commissioner Fuller, and Commissioner White, Donnie Meek, Peewee Y’Barbo, Bruce Gordan and Jasper Newton Electric Coop.
Gotta go. Thought for the week: What happens at Grandma’s…. stays at Granma’s. Ya’ll have a good week and if we can help, just holler. God Bless.
