Cardinal Power team lands three in State Meet

The Bridge City Boy’s Powerlifting team competed in the Region 4 Division 2 Regional Powerlifting Meet on Saturday, March 9 at Goose Creek Memorial High School. The team had seven lifters qualify for the regional meet and all seven lifters placed in the top five allowing the team to place second overall. Bridge City ended up with three qualifying for state. The results are as follows:
Sophomore Spencer Beck placed second in the 114 weight class by lifting a total weight of 610 pounds. Spencer will be making his first appearance in the state meet.
Junior Jake Potter placed first in the 123 weight class by lifting a total weight of 955 pounds. This will also be Jake’s first appearance at the state meet.
Senior Alex Williams placed third in the 123 weight class by lifting a total weight of 860 pounds. Although Alex will not be continuing on to the state meet, he will be making the ultimate sacrifice. He will be joining the Marine Corps after graduation. His recruiters were there cheering him on yesterday.
Freshman Shayan Rahim placed fourth in the 123 weight class by lifting a total weight of 830 pounds. This was Shayan’s first time lifting at the regional meet.
Freshman Trey Hebert placed fourth in the 132 weight class by lifting a total weight of 960 pounds. This was also Trey’s first time to lift in the regional meet.
Junior Davion Coleman placed fifth in the 198 weight class by lifting a total weight of 1150 pounds. This was Davion’s first appearance at the regional meet.
Senior Jack Fontenot placed second in the 242 weight class by lifting a total weight of 1620 pounds. Jack ended up setting a new regional squat record of 735 pounds which earned him receiving the Most Outstanding Squat title for the heavyweights.
Spencer, Jake and Jake will represent Bridge City at the State Meet held in Abilene on March 23.
