Changes help us move forward

As I spoke at the Golden K Kiwanis meeting a week ago, a woman made a suggestion.
It may not have been geared towards The Orange Leader directly, but indirectly, an idea was voiced and heard.
More than once, I personally, had noticed the number of events overlapping each other and wondered how to alleviate some of the confusion on events happening in Orange.
The thought of adding a calendar to The Orange Leader website was one which needed to be implemented.
And so it was.
If one visits orangeleader.com on a desktop, scroll down while looking at the right-hand side of the page.
An Events Calendar is now available and offers more than just non-profit meetings and events. It also includes religious events as well as government meetings.
As we are informed of events, we will update the calendar.
This is where you, our readers, come in.
To make this successful for the whole community, we need to know about your events.
There are two ways to submit the information:
- Email us at news@orangeleader.com
- Submit an Event at https://www.orangeleader.com/services/submit-an-event/
Of course, you are always welcome to visit us at our new location at 1008 Green Ave. in Orange. We have forms available to assist in providing the information needed to help us as we include the event on the Events Calendar.
So if you have a Garden Club, Bridge Club, Poetry Reading Group, let us know.
Salvation Army could use you
Salvation Army has helped serve our community through the good and the bad.
There is much the organization would like to do, but lacks the manpower needed. If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering to contact the organization at (409) 291-8400 or visit them at the corner of MLK and Strickland in Orange.
Perhaps you have a particular skill set you could teach the children or a handyman who could make repairs when needed. Maybe you are a retired secretary who could volunteer to help in the office?
We see the many volunteers each Christmas as they ring the bells for the Army, but volunteers are needed all 12 months of the year.
The children will thank you.
