Softball roundup: Lady Bobcats, Bears notch big softball wins

BRIDGE CITY – The Orangefield Bobcats strolled past the Bridge City Lady Cardinals 9-1 in non-district softball action at Lady Cardinal Field Tuesday.

The Lady Bobcats used a big eight-run fifth inning to turn back the Lady Cardinals.

For the Lady Bobcats, Ryden Stanfield had an RBI on a fielder’s choice. Olivia Grant went 1-for-3 with a walk, a RBI and a run scored. Emma Humplik went 1-for-2 with a triple, three walks and a run scored. Alyssa Dodd was 1-for-3 with a walk, a RBI and a run scored. Codie Sorge was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and the two go-ahead RBI’s in the fifth. Tiffany Ciancaglione went 1-for-2 with a double, a run scored and a RBI. Heather Mineer went 2-for-3 with a walk, a RBI and a run scored. Hannah Dupuis had a walk and an RBI on a sacrifice fly.

Codie Sorge surrendered one unearned run on four hits and three walks with seven strikeouts.

LITTLE CYPRESS – The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears pounded the Hamshire-Fannett Lady Longhorns 16-0 in four innings in their District 22-4A opener Tuesday at Lady Bear Field.

Brianna Frenzel got the win on the hill for the Lady Bears (12-0, 1-0). She didn’t allow a hit in four innings while striking out 10.

JoAnna Henry was 2-for-2 at the plate with four runs batted in, including a walkoff grand slam home run.

Bailey Frenzel was 3-for-3 with four RBI, including a two-run home run. Brianna Frenzel was 3-for-3 with four RBI. Megan Peveto, Payton Smith, Morgan Weaver and MadelineStephenson all chipped in a hit as well.

 

WO-S girls

LUMBERTON – The West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs fell to the Lumberton Lady Raiders 17-0 in their District 22-4A opener Tuesday night.

Gabby Tims and Haylee Veitch each went 1-for-2 at the plate for the Lady Mustangs.
