Raiders edge out Bobcats in opener

LUMBERTON -Both teams were strong on the pitcher’s mound on Monday, but Lumberton was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a 3-2 victory over the Orangefield Bobcats  in the season opener for both teams.

Blake Bradley started the game for Bobcats and recorded 12 outs.

The Bobcats lost despite out-hitting Lumberton seven to three.

Orangefield got things started in the first inning. Kadeon Evans lined out, scoring one run.

Drake Boykin toed the rubber for Lumberton. He lasted three innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out one.

Bradley was on the hill for Bobcats. He allowed three hits and three runs over four innings, striking out five and walking one.  Evans threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

The Bobcats saw the ball well, racking up seven hits in the game.  Johnny Armstrong, Landen Tomlinson, and Gunner Jones all managed multiple hits for Bobcats.

The Bobcats will play in the Bridge City tournament later this week.

In other action Monday, the LC-M Bears went on the road and defeated the Vidor Pirates 9-2.
