Police investigate child shooting

Orange Police Department continues with an investigation, which began Monday evening in reference to a shooting involving an eight year old and a four year old.

Officers were responded to a call of a gunshot victim at 5:53 p.m. Monday at the 900 block of Cooper in Orange.

An eight year old girl had been shot in her shoulder by a four year old boy.

A search began for the boy as he reportedly took off running after the incident.

He was later located in a nearby vehicle.

The handgun was not found.

The victim was transported by Acadian Ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

She was treated and released to a parent.

Child Protective Services was notified of the incident.

The investigation is ongoing by the Detective Division of the Orange Police Department and Child Protective Services.
