PRESS RELEASE

LAKE CHARLES — The Lake Charles Police Department was contacted on Monday, February 11, 2019 at approximately 3:25 p.m. in reference to a weapons complaint in the 900 block of Orange Street in Lake Charles.

During the course of the investigation, officers were advised by nearby witnesses that the suspect was a male whom was observed shooting a firearm into the ground in the front yard. The suspect was later identified as Jaylin Stewart, of Lake Charles.

Stewart was arrested and charged with illegal discharging of a firearm in the city limits. A firearm was recovered during the investigation.
