Lady Bears turn back defending state champ Liberty in opener

ANAHUAC – The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears got off to a superb start to their 2019 softball campaign Monday night.

How superb?

They defeated defending Class 4A state champion Liberty 4-3 in Anahuac.

Bailey Frenzel nabbed the win on the hill for the Lady Bears as she tossed four innings. She allowed three runs while striking out five with no walks.

Brianna Frenzel tossed three innings, allowing no hits while fanning eight with no walks.

Brianna Frenzel led the Lady Bear offense with a solo home run bomb while Bailey Frenzel had a double and Madison Murdock laced a single.

The Lady Bears will host their own SETX Classic Thursday through Saturday at Lady Bear Field.
