Pull out the gloves and the lace handkerchiefs.

Don the finest dress.

Select the hat, the larger the better.

Now head over the 28th Annual Red/White Tea and Hat Show from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10 in the Christian Life Center located at 106 West Park Ave. in Orange.

Mount Olive Baptist Church Senior Gospel Seasoned Choir hosts the event each year as a way to showcase the latest in hat designs while enjoying fellowship.

There will be a special guest of the city.

The theme this year is “A Valentine’s Cleansing.”

The verse for the event is Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”

It will be an evening of great entertainment; food, fun, and fellowship with many surprises and door prizes will be available.

The program began when church member Maddie Johnson coordinated with Hats by Naomi of Houston to bring the latest in hat fashion to Orange every year. For approximately 15 years, that is how the program remained until it took on a more local flavor 13 years ago.

The Red and White Tea and Hat Show is held on the second Sunday of February every year. Jo Ann Raney is President of the organization.

Admission is free.

Donations will be accepted.
