Orange bank robber caught in Lake Charles

Lake Charles – Troopers have arrested a Lake Charles man wanted by Texas authorities for a bank robbery.

On January 24, 2019, investigators assigned to the Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division received information from the Orange Police Department possibly connecting a Lake Charles resident to a bank robbery in Orange, Texas.

Through further investigation, Troopers determined 44-year-old James Spikes of Lake Charles matched the description of the suspect in the bank robbery.

On January 25, 2019, investigators from Louisiana State Police and the Orange Police Department located Spikes at his south Lake Charles residence.

During questioning, Spikes admitted to committing the robbery and turned evidence of the crime over to detectives including the disguise he wore during the robbery.

Spikes was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. He is currently awaiting extradition back to Orange, Texas.
