Bobcats stroll past Warriors

ORANGEFIELD – It took awhile for Orangefield to put away the pesky Warren Warriors but a 21-10 spurt in the fourth quarter sealed the deal for the Bobcats as they notched an important 73-53 District 22-3A win Friday night at Bobcat Gym.

The Bobcats (23-7, 6-3) had the lead the whole way but the Warriors (8-11, 4-5) showed plenty of scrap until they ran out of gas late in the second half.

The Bobcats led 17-13 at the end of the first quarter and stretched it to 36-27 by intermission.

The Warriors kept battling to keep it within nine before entering the final eight minutes.

Post Valentin Catt had a nice outing for the Bobcats as he finished with a big double-double, scoring 21 points and yanking down 14 rebounds.

Kaiden DuBose and Tyrone Waggoner had superb slashes to the bucket during the night as both finished with 13 points apiece.

Coy Bryant finished with nine points and buried three three-pointers while adding six rebounds. Cade Prejean finished with six points and six boards while Clayson Choate added five rebounds.

Guard Michael Madon led the Warriors with 12 points and nine rebounds. Justin Elliott finished with 11 points and seven boards while Ethan Smith added eight points and seven rebounds.

The Bobcats finished with a dominating 44-30 rebounding edge.

Warren had 15 turnovers while the Bobcats had 14.
The Bobcats went just 13-of-26 from the free-throw line while Warren was a solid 15-of-19.

The Bobcats will continue their push for playoff positioning Tuesday when they visit the Kountze Lions.

In other action Friday night, the Silsbee Tigers (19-6, 8-0) defeated the West Orange-Stark Mustangs (14-14, 3-4) 105-71 in District 22-4A action.
