An Orange man landed his self back in Hardin County Jail after he attempted to evade Lumberton Police during a traffic stop.

According to Lumberton Police Chief D. Sullins, an officer spotted a black Dodge truck at 6:49 p.m., Wednesday, traveling in the 200 block of LHS Drive.

The officer ran a check on the vehicles license plate and discovered that the vehicle had no insurance, which is mandated by state law. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver fled to evade the officer.

The chase continued down State Highway 69 entering the city limits of Beaumont, then to Interstate 10 Eastbound into Orange County.

An Officer attempted to spike the driver’s tires near the intersection of Farm to Market Road 1442 and Interstate 10, puncturing three out of the four tires.

The vehicle then exited Interstate 10 and headed southbound on State Highway 62 entering Bridge City.

The vehicle continued southbound on State Highway 73 before turning on to Ferry Drive in Bridge City.

The vehicle continued throughout the city and then turned onto Farm to Market Road 408 and back to State Highway 105.

The suspect then headed northbound on State Highway 62 into Mauriceville and finally stopping on State Highway 12.

The suspect Anthony Wayne Harvey, 45, of Orange, was taken into custody without incident.

According to officers on the scene, the speeds never reached over 60 miles per hour. Throughout the chase sparks could be seen as the driver led officers on a lengthy chase for almost an hour.

Harvey was transported back to the Hardin County Jail and booked on one count of evading arrest with a motor vehicle and an outstanding trespassing warrant out of Orange County.

Harvey was arraigned Thursday morning by a judge and bond was set at $10,000 total for both charges.

He remains in the Hardin County Jail at this time.

Lumberton Police was assisted in the chase by Beaumont, Vidor, Orange, Bridge City Police Departments, Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Hardin County Sheriff’s Department and Texas DPS.

No injuries were reported.
