Leader Editor Burleigh wins Bridge Award

Orange Leader Editor Dawn Burleigh picked up a nice honor at the 2019 Blossoming Minds Martin Luther King Gala which was held at the Expo Center Saturday night.

Burleigh was the Bridge Honoree.

She was lauded by speaker Jennie Hardin for her extensive work with her community involvement and helping to unite groups together and in building community relationships.

“I’m very humbled by receiving this honor,” said Burleigh. “I sincerely appreciate all of the hard work that all of the fine folks did to put this wonderful event together. I also dearly love my husband Eric, he has always been there right by my side with a tremendous amount of support.”

Burleigh has been employed in the newspaper business since the age of 21.

She has worked in just about every aspect of the business, from telephone sales, mailroom, camera room, page design, news writing and has served as the Editor of the Orange Leader since January of 2015.

She is a proud graduate of Lamar State College-Orange in which she graduated with a Business Management degree in 2008 with a certificate in entrepreneurship.

She loves being involved in the community in all aspects and is willing to go that extra mile to bring positivity throughout the community.

She is a proud member of the Orange First Church of the Nazarene. She served as a Gift of Life Orange County Consortium. She also serves as a Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassador and also serves on the Orange County Historical Commission.

Dawn also stays busy in her spare time as an avid crocheter and quilter and even teaches a crochet class.

She is dearly loved by husband Eric, son Troy, and daughter Stormi.

She and Eric spend a lot of quality time together and love to go fishing.
